Meet the instructor
Joe knows bands.
35 years of guitar experience. More than 20 years teaching lessons. One program built to get people playing together.
The idea
Get organized. Get on stage.

The Rock Band School idea was created for those who play an instrument and would like to be in a band but don't know how to get started or just can't seem to get organized.
Maybe you want to play with your friends on stage, in front of an audience. If your friends aren't ready, you can still join and I will have you out there playing on a stage with a band in no time.
“Students will and have become better when they can apply the knowledge and the skill.”
Joe's story
From the warehouse to Rock Band School.
Joe Salk has 35 years of guitar experience, trained at the American Institute of Music in Georgia where he became a substitute teacher. He started offering guitar and bass lessons 20 years ago from Bayshore Music's warehouse facility.
The movie “School of Rock” inspired Joe to create his rock band school and studio.
Choose your songs
Unlike other ensemble programs, students choose their own songs—in his words: “choosing your own songs, (within reason lol)”.
Spectators are welcome to observe classes.
What classes teach
More than the notes.
Classes teach “timing, song arrangement, completion of songs, being in a band situation and working with others as a team which will benefit them and further educate them in the field of music.”
That same team-first approach welcomes Kids Who Rock and adults who are ready to play with a band.
